Franco Porcellacchia is leading the Ship Owner's technical team for the Costa Concordia wreck removal. Main activities of the team include monitoring the progress in engineering and wreck removal operations, supervision of health and safety compliance on site and liaising with the Italian Authorities.
Franco was born and educated in Genoa, Italy. He graduated from the University of Genoa in 1979 with a degree in Naval Architecture and Mechanical Engineering.
He commenced his career with the Italian Classification Society RINA, holding various positions over a period of more than twenty years in both Italy and the United States.
In 2002 Franco joined Costa Crociere S.p.A in the role of Vice President and Director of Technical Operations.
In 2008 Franco joined Carnival Corporation & plc. His current position is Vice President of Carnival Corporate Ship Refit, reporting to Miami HQ.
